Interesting things seem to be developing on the Greenbelt front..
26-07-10: Letter from the Scottish Parliament: Received a letter from Keith Brown MSP today, detailing their proposals for improving the state of affairs with Residential Property and Land Maintenance Companies. It also states that they are looking 'to explore if there is a role for the council to play in existing housing developments'. Yep, there is; take the land back and provide parity of service as you do for all the other council tax payers in the surrounding area. More details and info on how to submit any comments are on this page

Lots of interesting debate on the blog page too. Some frighteningly unprofessional reaction apparently from the Director of Greenbelt on here too; signs of desperation from a wounded animal perhaps?

LATEST... from Greenbelt Action Group website....
Apparently the Court Case scheduled in Stirling against a non-paying resident for Thursday 23rd April has collapsed as a result of Greenbelt withdrawing.
"We have learnt today that Morton Fraser, a firm of solicitors representing Greenbelt Group has resigned - they're in very good company - because Greenbelt Group's auditors resigned recently too.
Greenbelt's current tactic of coming the heavy with its customers appears to be backfiring badly. More people than ever appear to be contacting their local police force, lawyers, MPs, MSPs and councillors and saying "ENOUGH"!"

Land Maintenance Companies - Westminster Hall Debate transcript
It appears there are numerous reasons why companies such as Greenbelt get away with their atrocious and shocking business dealings, but there are various bodies investigating the whole land management scheme and there will be national reports from these being published early this year that should carry some weight and continue the groundswell for long overdue change to the systems currently failing estates all over the country.
This resource will (hopefully) be developed by the residents from the Delph Wynd area of Tullibody, Clackmannanshire. It's open to anyone, but will be most relevant to current residents. Hi all,
There is to be a Big Dirty Weekend on Sunday 7th June - more info on this link
This is organised by Clackmannanshire Voluntary Service (CVS) and is something which we should all support. Apparently, the council lawyers have discovered that the strip of land between the park and the retaining wall which holds up the gardens of nos 2 - 22 (and probably stops most of the estate from falling into the pond) still belongs to the council and NOT Greenbelt.
CVS will be doing work in the week before the event to clean up that strip of woodland and repair paths, etc.
John

These unusual birds have been causing a bit of mess around some Delph Wynd gardens the past week.
Attracted by bushes full of red berries, they've been taking up residence on a number of TV aerials, and as a consequence the ground below looks like someone's been splattering raspberry jam everywhere.
The Parent Council (pta) of St. Bernadette's Primary School have organised an evening fundraiser next Friday 3rd of April. The night will consist of a RACE NIGHT followed by chance of a wee BOOGIE to a Disco with music from the 70s & 80s.
It is being held at the Civic Centre Abercromby Place ( just a short stagger away) and we are running our own, very cheap Bar.
If any of you would like to join us , either contact the school for tickets or e-mail me direct
Thankyou
Eddie Hughes.
