The lovely Greenbelt Group???

I came home from Holiday on Saturday (19th Dec) to find a letter from Greenbelt.
A nice red one in fact, telling me that my unpaid debt has been handed to their debt recovery unit.
The letter is signed by a K. Richards
Anyone else had one of these?
Also, anyone any advice?
Apparently I have 7 days from 17th Dec to contact them or my account will be transferred to an independent external collection agency.

Any and all suggestions gratefuly welcomed.

Yes I have received the very same letter today.

I have sent an email to them today expressing my views about them demanding money for a service they are not providing.

I will not be paying and they can take me to court. They have a "legal requirement" to perform maintenance of grounds and are not doing this.

I think we have every right not to pay as they are not doing anything on the estate except the occassional bit of grass cutting. The surrounding grounds are a disgrace and the walls are broken around the estate and have been for more than two years.I even paid the first two years fees (app.£250) before they even set foot on the estate. They told me that was admin. fees for setting up the services on the estate.Excuse my french but what a crock of s**t.

If I was you I would refuse to pay and I am aware there are many other residents on the estate that are in the same position.

Bully Boy letter.

Hi Shaun,
I have not had one of these latest attempts to extort money from my household , but i and a few
others received similar letters from an independant source (DARCEY QUIGLEY) this time last year.
It seems to be an obvious scare tactic to use the pressures of the Christmas period to force us all
to cave in to their demands. HAPPY CHRISTMAS GREENBELT.

The letters we received last year , were the catalist for us to contact our local politicians,
Councillar Mr George Matchet & our MP Gordon Banks.

I would suggest that you write to this person (K. Richards) explaining your reasons for withholding
payment, tell them that you are in contact with the other residents & you are considering making an
appointment to see you your MP.

I feel that if any more residents receive such a letter then maybe it is time for us all to arrange
another meeting with Gordon Banks to give him an update .

Relax & enjoy your Christmas Shaun ,
Don,t let the B***ards grind you down !

Have a Happy Christmas & a joyful New Year.

yours.

Eddie Hughes.

Greenbelt demands

Hi Shaun,

Eddie's right about the demand letters - we also received one last year around the same time. We contacted the Debt Collection Agency and explained the reason we were withholding and we haven't heard back from them since. Greenbelt has sent at least one other red letter invoice after this, even though the Agency letter stated all payment would have to go through them directly and it was out of Greenbelt's hands.

There's been a lot of activity with our neighbours recently down at West Myerton - check the links to that website from here - and there's another court case due the 30th December in Perth. It seems there's a pattern in that GB push out threatening letters and demands around these times, as well as try to look active around the estates.

I haven't seen or heard of GB being on site since late September/October or so, and this was the usual cutting of the grass outside the estate which I'm sure is under council control.

As Eddie also mentions, if anyone else does receive a demand or threat then do get in touch and we can re-visit Gordon Banks for another round of Greenbelt shenanigans.

PS: I got your message Shaun about moving this discussion somewhere everyone can see it but, as you see, it's available to view by anyone just now and he replies have started to appear so will just leave it here if that's OK.

Cheers for now,
Brian

Thanks Brian & Eddie

I decided to send a strong email outlining the fact that GB, as well as myself, have a legal obligation to fulfill their side of the contract. They also added a late payment charge to my bill so I pointed out that as the period was from March 09 to February 2010, I wasn't overdue and refused to pay for a service (which we all know we haven't received) up front.

It would appear that these bandits consider us all uneducated idiots.

I will sit back, enjoy Christmas & New Year and keep all informed of any future correspondence.

Merry Christmas & A Happy, Prosperous New Year to all.

Regards

Shaun.

We have also received a similar letter - I have email them explaining why we have not paid them this year although we did pay last year.
I have also asked them why they have done NOTHING to the Wooded Area to the lft as you enter the Estate and pointed out that we are finding it difficult to even use the Paths which are becoming overgrown.
